I have been a member of Grit for a little over a year. My experience at Grit has been a rewarding experience. Grit is a great place to workout with members of the community who support and encourage your fitness goals. In addition, Coach Sean wants to see you put forth your best efforts.


Grit City is more than just a gym, it’s a second home for many people. The owner, Sean Wright, coaches and members here are not only supportive, they drive you to push yourself harder to reach goals you never knew you had. This community becomes your second family. Whatever challenges you’re facing, you know you can work on them here. Once you join, you won’t ever want to leave.


At around 5 in the morning most days a week I drive from the upper west side to Grit City in the Bronx passing well over 100 gyms. Why - a rational person would ask? Because after extensive diligence it's 100% certain that there is no better fitness program then what comes out of the brilliant (and at times maniacal) mind of Sean Wright at Grit City. No matter what your fitness goal, level or weakness you may be battling, he will personalize programming and push your limits making you greater then what you ever fathomed possible. I walked into Grit City 220 pounds (at least 50 pounds overweight) with severe nerve damage in my back. I could not do 1 pull-up, maybe 5 push-ups, scared to try a deadlift and a general physical wreck. Today I am 50 pounds lighter, can do lots of pushups, pretty good at pull-ups (still cautious on deadlifts!) and can do all the classes. Best of all I feel confident moving around and living life. And my diet is good!


I’ve worked out since 16 years old and I have had many experiences with gyms, but none have come close to Grit City. I’ve had the best results in the last 18 months than I did in all 46 years of my life. Great environment, great people and great coaches, I absolutely love this place.
